Across the globe, March 4th is observed as World Obesity Day . The occasion is aimed at increasing the awareness of obesity, encouraging advocacy, improving policies, and sharing experiences. Its goal is to encourage people to adopt practical solutions that will enable them to maintain optimum weight and reverse the obesity crisis. What is Obesity ? Obesity is a condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to such an extent that it may have a negative effect on health. There is a concrete way to define obesity. It can be identified by calculating an individual’s Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI is an individual’s weight (kg) divided by his/her height in square meters.
